The City of Lakeside Budget Committee is comprised of the seven (7) members of the City Council and five (5) citizen members appointed by the Council. Together, the Committee plays a vital role in the City's annual budget process by providing both elected and community oversight of the proposed budget.
Each year, the Budget Committee receives the Budget Message, reviews the proposed budget in detail, evaluates anticipated revenues and planned expenditures, considers public input, and may recommend revisions as appropriate. Upon completion of its review, the Committee approves the proposed budget and forwards it to the City Council for consideration.
While the Budget Committee's approval is a significant milestone in the budget process, the Committee serves in an advisory capacity. Final authority to conduct the public hearing, adopt the budget, make appropriations, and establish the City's financial plan for the upcoming fiscal year rests with the City Council.
